Great July Porch

The blue floor and blue ceiling are so soothing. I would need a chaise with a back you could collapse for naps. Click HERE for more photos of Extown Cottage. Click on each photo to enlarge. David D Harlan, Architects.

Classical Architecture in Houston Texas

If that's a sleeping porch over the open porch, I'm in love.
You can't have too many porches, can you?
The rocking chair porch too.

Cotswold House with Gothic Door

Can you even imagine living here? This is a house in the Coln Valley region in the Cotswolds. I love the gothic door and the paint color. Found on Instagram here.

Brick Manor House

This is total perfection to my eyes. The design of the house is really wonderful and the brickwork is masterfully executed. The surrounding landscaping and driveway approach were nicely laid out too. Imagine living in a house with six chimneys!

I did a little research and I believe this is a new house designed after Bacon's Castle, the oldest surviving brick dwelling in America in Surry County Virginia. See photos and I think you will agree.
Click here for numerous photos of this museum.

Bacon's Castle has been closed for for interior tours while they were cleaning but will open again in March. This is definitely a "must see" house tour if you visit Virginia. xo

Beautiful White Clapboard House in Fall

The carpet of fallen leaves enhances the beauty of this New England colonial home. I love the stark simplicity of the windows with no shutters. via

🐾 Dog Breeds That No Longer Exist 🐾

It's a dreary Friday here at my cottage. I spent the first two hours in a webinar for continuing education credits for my real estate license. The sun is supposed to come out later this afternoon and maybe I will rake some wet leaves.

I enjoyed reading this BBC fascinating article about dog breeds that time forgot. See link below:

Listen to a 7 minute segment on NPR about Turn Spit Dogs. There is an illustration too:

Have a great weekend.

Wonderful Old House with Steep Roof

I adore this house and especially the steep roof. It looks untouched and all the owners have resisted putting in dormers. There are no openings on the north side either. This house was built for cold weather and I wish I knew the location. It looks like rural New England. The rubble wall is wonderful too. Love it all♡. Found here.

Charming Southern Cottage

Photo found here, originally from Southern Living.
There are so many features to love in this house.
The covered porch and windows that go to the floor
must help to keep it cool in the summer.
I wish I could find the magazine article.
Maybe there are interior views.

Breakfast Room with A View

The view from this breakfast room window looks like a painting, doesn't it? The house by TruexCullins Architecture is in Charlotte, Vermont. I love the blue checked club chair with ottoman too!
HAPPY LABOR DAY!

Moving Bathtub in Switzerland

Click to view: This is the most bizarre thing I have seen in a long time, maybe forever.

It is a moving bathtub on a rail, like a railroad car, that goes outside overlooking a backyard. I was going to try to copy it but it's better viewed in the link above. So very strange😱

Great Galley Kitchen + Irish Cottage

Yup. I could cook here quite nicely. I love diamond stained floor and the topiary window. I would prefer the view to be a country one though. I don't know about having an open window opposite other open windows, especially at night. I had a galley kitchen once in a rental and loved it. via

Shakespeare's Daughter's House with 17thC Garden

I copied the two photos above (with my phone) from one of my coffee table gardening books, "The Garden, A Celebration" Edited by Howard Loxton. I love the timber-framed house called Hall's Croft and the rear garden with no blank spaces for the weeds to grow. It looks care free but we all know there's no such thing.🪴

Enjoy the long July 4th weekend extending into Monday.

Stunning Architecture

So much to love in one photo. I just finished three hours of mowing so I can appreciate this lawn and simple plantings that do not detract from the architecture. via
